Sharing is Good

Dean has decided lately that he'd like to share with me. Sounds nice right? Not so tempting when it's the squash he's just taken out of his mouth.

Unfortunate

I have been reading a few series over the years and have finally come to the end of both. One was the Harry Potter series. I really enjoyed the last book and thought that JK Rowlings wrapped it up nicely in the end. As with all series that I enjoy, I am sad to depart a long friend and wish there was more.

The other series is a serious disappointment. I began this one when I was 16, so I've been hanging on for nearly 12 years. It was The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I have only just finished reading the second to last book, but will never know what Robert Jordan had in mind for the final book because he has sadly passed away. What a shame! I am sad for his family and selfishly sad for his readers. I've heard another author will be writing the last Wheel of Time book in his stead. I will read it, but will wonder if it ends the way it's original author had in mind.

Eh? What was that?

Sometimes the conversations Lucas and I are having are funny. Mostly because we're not talking about the same thing.
Example:

"Lucas, do you want to pull out some meat for spaghetti tomorrow?"
"Where at?"
"Um, the freezer where we always keep the frozen meat."
"Wait, what did you say the first time?"
"Can you pull out some meat for spaghetti tomorrow?"
"You want to eat what?"
"Please pull the frozen ground beef from the freezer to thaw."

At this point it really would be easier to just do it myself, if I wasn't in the middle of changing a poopy diaper. After a few minutes of this we finally figure out that Lucas thought I asked if he wanted to go out to eat spaghetti tomorrow. At least this time he was hearing "eat" instead of "meat". Honest mistake, but sometimes I think he needs to get his hearing checked.

Excuses, Excuses

Man have I fallen behind on the blog. First was the crazy week that Lucas was gone. The following weekend my mom, step-dad, and youngest brother came to visit (fun!). During the same weekend, Dean developed a horrible fever which of course meant ear infections (not fun!). Poor baby has two more. The doc has recommended him to the ENT doc to talk about the possibility of tubes. We'll see. Dean's medication is beginning to kick in and he's feeling less cranky. That's the end of my BLAH update. Now to the good stuff.

Dean has this cute face he makes when he's happy. He scrunches up his nose, squints his eyes real tight, and smiles a big ol' cheesy grin. I have yet to capture this on camera. This morning he had me rolling with a Ray Charles impersonation. Imagine his squinty cute face while swaying and playing his cow shaped xylophone.

Also, don't know if I've mentioned it, but Dean ventured into the walking stage of life at about 10 months. Seeing as he'll be a year old next week, I suppose it's time to share the walking video with the rest of you.

Strike

For those of you who have been waiting for me to post, I've joined the writer's strike. You'll have to read the re-runs.

Truly though, Lucas is out of town for a while, and I'll try to post again after he's returned. I feel for all of those single moms. That must be tough!

Spending the Winnings

Some of you may be wondering how I spent my winnings from the Biggest Loser. I've been holding onto it for quite some time and finally decided to start spending some of it yesterday. I got a haircut and a pedicure. I can't seem to get a good picture of my bad haircut, which may be for the best.

Today I am spending more of it (hopefully) on some clothes that actually fit. I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but didn't realize that is not the same as my pre-pregnancy size. I tried on some of my old clothes this morning. It was rewarding to be able to zip up my pants, but the extra skin I have from being stretched isn't too flattering hanging over the top and filling up space around the hips and thighs. The fun thing is, that I am ok with that. Having grown to all of the different size throughout my pregnancy and after has given me a new perspective. Also, I just need to be within the healthy BMI range, and I am! Yahoo!

Farm Rides

We took this picture about a month ago. We sometimes stick Dean in with the clean clothes and give him a little ride over to the couch where we're going to start folding. He generally enjoys it. He also enjoys folding (or unfolding) the clothes. For some reason, this reminds me of the rides we had as children on the farm. My oldest brother would drive the riding lawn mower with us all attached behind it riding in various wheeled items. We were a good "Okie" train ride I suppose.

A Happy New Year to You

I tried a mulled wine for the first time this New Year's Eve. I often read about people drinking it in the books that I read, but have never thought much of it. When my Aunt and Uncle came by a few nights ago, they left a bottle with a mulled wine mix for me to try. I thought, I'd be fancy and pour it out with the teacup my mom bought for me a few years ago.
I don't drink achohol of any sort very often, so I don't have an aquired taste for most drinks. This one was pretty good for the first 1/2 a cup, then I was done with it. Mostly, I liked the cinnamon flavor.
I hardly post with any picture's of myself, so I had Lucas take a picture. I know I hold my tea cup a bit awkwardly.
